Overview

The Unconventional business line is seeking top Operations Geoscientist with excellent geosteering experience to join the Unconventional Resources Realtime Operations Center at Aramco HQs.

 

As a Operations Geoscientist working on the Unconventional Program, the successful candidate will be able to integrate regional to field-scale geological evaluations, work hands-on delivering vertical and horizontal wells in target zone with minimal supervision. The Operations Geoscientist will add value through building, executing and ensuring the delivery of wells as per multi-well field development program. The ideal candidate will be experienced with planning well execution, coring operations, directional drilling operations, and well logging. The candidate will be able to advice about geosteering directional wells at a SME level.

Duties & Responsibilities

As a subject matter expert, you will;

Geosteer complex wells using advanced LWD technology independently.

Monitor well execution and operation maintaining proper communication with rig site.

Use drilling parameters and well correlations to identify coring points.

Provide geological input on target selection, wellbore trajectory and geosteering operations.

Knowledgeable on directional drilling technology use, RSS, and downhole Motors.

Document operations in written reports and illustrate with cross sections, maps etc. 

Evaluate current practices to identify improvement opportunities Company wide.

Present methodology and project evaluation to technical management.

Work in a 24/7 rotation schedule remotely monitoring operations from the headquarters.

Work on shift rotation, days and nights as per the 8-hour shift program.

Train junior professionals to develop the required real-time operations skills.

Able to conduct data analytics using Python, TIBCO Spotfire, or similar is an advantage.

Capable of performing 2D and 3D seismic interpretation is an advantage.

Minimum Requirements

As the successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or a related science as appropriate to the discipline is required.

 

You must have at least 15+ years of experience with at least 5 years in unconventional tight sand and shale plays across different unconventional hydrocarbon basins required.

 

You will also have;

Eexperience in field development with exposure to geological evaluation and multi-well pad execution specific to active horizontal geosteering operations.

Experience providing assistance in well planning and drilling execution; and is capable to work in a real-time operations center on shift rotation with multidisciplinary teams.

Excellent interpersonal and presentations skills required.

Experience utilizing advanced geosteering applications is required.

Experience with geosteering automation (AI) or assisted geosteering is an advantage.
