The Geochemistry Unit (GU) supports exploration and development operations in the area of oil and gas geochemistry in both conventional and unconventional systems. Subject matter experts (SME’s) oversee all aspects of the geochemical services delivery provided to Saudi Aramco from exploration to production.
The position shall provide technical support and laboratory services to all upstream departments in Saudi Arabia. The job is a full-time employee position reporting to the supervisor of GU, which is part of the EXPEC ARC Advanced Technical Services Division.
The candidate shall Initiate, lead, provide geochemical technical support, laboratory services and conduct applied research on stable isotope geochemistry of natural gas (conventional & unconventional), carbonate, kerogen and water.
You should be able to perform the following:
Synthesize interpretations from varied geochemical data independently and as a part of interdisciplinary teams
Conduct studies on gas and oil genesis, oil-oi and gas-gas as well as source-gas correlations utilizing stable isotope geochemistry
Conduct studies on mass transfer, and biodegradation of oil and gas in petroleum systems.
Conduct isotope studies on non-hydrocarbon gases such as nitrogen, CO2 and H2S.
Conduct isotope studies on carbonate rocks, kerogen and water.
Lead several analytical instruments including: Flash Elemental Analyzer, Gas Bench, and GC IsoLink coupling with Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometers for isotope analyses of carbonate rocks, kerogen, oil fractions and natural gas samples, plus Picarro analyzers for water, CO2, and methane samples.
Train and mentor young engineers and lab technicians
As a successful candidate , you
Hold a B.S. Degree in Organic Geochemistry, Chemistry or Geology. An advanced degree e.g. MSc or PhD in technical disciplines is preferred
Have at least 10 years professional experience related to petroleum geochemistry.
Must have excellent analytical capabilities in the laboratory with Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometers and their peripherals, and experience in dealing with data from all these instruments.
Have an expert level knowledge of hydrocarbon and non- hydrocarbon gas geochemistry, Specialist level competency of water, carbonate and kerogen isotope interpretation
Have an xxcellent knowledge and hands on experience on C, H, N, S isotope geochemistry equipment
