We are seeking a Power Systems Automation Engineer to join our Power Systems Engineering Department (PSED) working under our Smart Grid and Automation Unit (GS&AU).
PSED is responsible for providing and managing highly technical and specialized engineering services to support the safe and reliable operation of Saudi Aramco electrical power system generation, transmission and distribution networks.
SG&AU engineers provide the technical support with regards to designs, standards, commission, investigations, etc. in regards of power system automation, smart grid technology and cyber security field ensuring safe and reliable Power Supply.
Your primary role will be to understand, analyze and interpret projects requirements. You will develop and design substation automation systems and control solutions, of various complexities, for industrial power systems applications. You will act as subject matter expert in providing services to Power Systems Customers to ensure a safe and reliable power supply in the most cost-effective manner.
As the successful candidate will be required to perform the following:
Prepare project proposals and scopes of work for upgrade and pilot projects related to electrical control and monitoring systems such as Substation Automation and Power Management.
Collaborate with engineering consultants to develop detailed design packages for electrical scope.
Review and evaluate documents and designs received from EPC contractor for automation projects.
Ensure compliance to company standards and project scope.
Manage and execute projects from design to start-up.
Participate in the inspection and testing of project deliverables, including conducting Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
Validate the results of FAT’s and SAT’s to ensure compliance to company and international standards.
Develop Power Systems Automation Operation and Maintenance Guidelines and Procedures.
Review engineering and material standards for Power Systems Automation, and SCADA.
Develop cyber security guidelines for electrical control systems.
Implement cyber security controls at various facilities.
Conduct Vendor and product evaluation for inclusion in company regulated vendor/product lists.
Attend troubleshooting and fault investigations concerning Power Systems Automation.
Conduct ongoing research into new techniques and methodologies for system enhancements.
Develop proof of concepts and pilot projects for new technologies.
Develop training programs for automation engineers.
You must hold a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering.
You should have a minimum of eight 8 years relevant experience in the field of system automation for electrical systems.
Knowledge of Industrial protocols including IEC 61850, DNP3.0, SNTP, PTP is essential.
You should also have knowledge of TCP/IP communications and LAN/WAN networks.
Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ are desirable.
You should be able to demonstrate high analytical capabilities.
Experience within oil and gas industrial systems is preferred.
