Req Number: 18656BR
We are seeking a Linear Programming (LP) Modeling Engineer to work in the Supply Planning and Optimization Division (SP&OD).
The SP&OD is responsible for performing optimization analyses, developing long-term business plans, performing reviews and evaluations on projects, and developing hydrocarbon operations and systems strategies. The division is also responsible for performing supply and demand balances for all crude oil, gas, NGL, and refined products managed by the company.
You will act as a consultant on complex engineering and LP problems; review existing LP model structure, and recommend improvement as required. You will also mentor new LP engineers and provide structured training for them, alongside providing specialized technical service in recognized engineering fields.
The successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering.
You will have a minimum of seven years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry or similar process industries. You must have a clear understanding and knowledge of crude, gas, NGL, and refinery process units’ basic functions.
You must have a thorough knowledge of engineering practices and economic principles and calculation methods.
Duties & Responsibilities:
As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:
Run the oil and gas and refinery linear programing models to generate the business plan level of operations for the hydrocarbon system.
Work with all concerned organizations to determine the optimum mode of operation for the facilities.
Define data and work processes required to maintain and update LP models.
Maintain the hydrocarbon LP models by adding or deleting process units, and updating yields and streams properties.
Add new flexibilities to ensure full optimization of the hydrocarbon systems.
Work with operation and simulation engineers to ensure that the model contains the latest up-to-date process data.
Perform “back-casting” and issue a monthly report on the LP gap, along with required mitigations.
Perform special economic studies using the LP model.
Work with different operations divisions to ensure that short-range operating plans are aligned with the long-term plans, in terms of modeling accuracy.
Ensure that the business plans’ LP model contains the latest information and simulations required to develop each plan.
Adapt new best practices in LP modeling.
