We are seeking an Experimental Psychologist to join the Ithra Digital Wellness Program of King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture

The Digital Wellbeing program, is a global flagship initiative by Ithra with very high ambitions to tackle the issues from unbalanced and excessive digital usage, and to promote a balanced and moderate healthy relationship with digital solutions
Experimental Psychologist in the Digital Wellbeing Program will collaborate with the Computer Scientist, and Sociologist to conduct experiments and studies on the behavior of individuals to understand their relationship with digital solution and social media platforms
You will be required to perform the following:
Develop research proposals that will contribute in revealing the impact of excessive digital usage on individuals’ behaviors, and the tech practices that exploits human weaknesses.
Design digital wellbeing research projects to test theories, and how excessive digital platforms and social media usage, and online content affect individuals’ behaviors.
Collect and analyze data through global surveys, observations, interviews, social media posts, local and international reports, and other resources.
Build hypothesis from the collected data and draw conclusions out of them.
Research and evaluate potential research and knowledge partners for the Digital Wellbeing projects.
Collaborate with other researchers, social scientist, psychologists, policy makers, governmental and NGOs, to conduct research and propose policies that will limit the negative impact of excessive digital usage and social media addiction.
Contribute in conducting literature reviews to further understand the issues of excessive digital usage and social media addiction.
As the successful candidate you will hold a PhD degree in experimental psychology, behavioral psychology or other relevant psychology fields from a recognized and approved program.
You will have a minimum of eight years experience in studying behaviors and individuals, conducting psychological experiments, and publishing research papers and reports.
You will be able to demonstrate extensive experience in scientific method when conducting research, from formulating a hypothesis to sharing findings, and finally publishing research papers.
You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of variety of psychological phenomena, ranging from learning to personality to cognitive processes and how this is impacting in the digital space.
You will be able to demonstrate how to influence individual behaviors and what techniques in digital platform exploit human weaknesses, and how to overcome them.
You will be also demonstrating experience in conducting previous experiments and studying the impact of external factors on individual behaviors.
You will be able to demonstrate experience of the scientific method when conducting research, from formulating a hypothesis to sharing findings, and finally publishing research papers.
